The LAUSD Teacher's Union NO LONGER gets to position themselves on the moral high-ground anytime they ask for more funding, more benefits, and more sympathy from California voters.

Teachers (via their union) are finally willing to strike a deal to go back to work. Kind of. Part-time. Starting in 6 more weeks. Maybe.
NOTE that the deal to reopen LAUSD schools, after being closed for more than a year, is contingent on teachers being vaccinated FIRST!!!

🤬. It is unconscionable that they do this!!!

Did the ER nurses, ICU doctors, the EMT crews, the hospital orderlies, and janitors refuse to go to work until they were vaccinated?
How about the police holding the lines during the summer’s riots? Did they refuse to show up until they were vaccinated?

Or the grocery workers, bus drivers, meat packers? Did Costco shut down until the works got vaccinated? Did front line grocery store workers say it was only safe for them to give you instruction (via zoom) on how to grow your own food?

Even friends of mine who are Doctors & nurses, in their 50's, 60's & 70s, and would be MOST negatively affected if they contracted Covid - they reluctantly masked up and continued to work at our County hospital. A hospital that frequently had 110+ Covid patients in-house, and where 426 staff members tested Covid-positive.

Worried about "following the science?" Other states that opened schools six months ago (or only closed them briefly last spring) did not have serious outbreaks, did NOT have teachers dropping dead, and even President Biden’s CDC director said it was safe to reopen schools. Kid aren't generally at risk, and they are aggressive carriers of the disease.

Why are our teachers permitted to abandon our children, and why are they allowed - even now - to refuse to return to a relatively safe work environment until they are vaccinated? Why are teacher unions the sacred cow that cannot be criticized?

Why does a healthy, 30 year old teacher, get to take away a vaccination dose that could be given to someone more at risk. Is the LAUSD teacher's union trying to "kill grandma" (as so many have claimed anytime they've disagreed with a given Covid policy)???

I hope the LAUSD crumbles, we move to some type of charter school or voucher program, and parents get to CHOOSE how their kids are educated. Hopefully parents can get away from being part of a captive audience beholden to this corrupt union.

Also, in about 20 years, when there is a new whole generation of "rich" kids who are getting richer - and "poor" kids who are falling further behind - and the "income inequality" gap is widening - please don't blame government & businesses. Blame the teachers unions who abandoned these kids over the last 12 months.

Newsweek ran a heartbreaking article the other day. I read that an estimated 3 million kids - mostly in lower income / ethnically diverse areas - have simply disappeared from school - and will likely never come back. The entire thing disgusts me.
